THE DUMBO DOULA

Meet Anna Treece

B.A. in English, DONA trained postpartum doula

Founder, Postpartum Doula, Millenial Life Coach

I have over ten years of broad ranging experience in the financial services industry, including multifaceted program and project management roles in the technology and human capital space. I have led numerous leadership development programs and trainings across all levels of multiple Fortune 100 financial institutions.

So how did I become the Dumbo Doula? I have always loved children (and animals!) - nurturing has always come natural to me. I was always the "mom" in my group of friends and I spent a decade working in finance and technology ending up in roles running recruiting programs and other development programs to recruit, develop and retain employees. I have always been interested in working with people and helping them whether it was with their careers, finding fulfillment in their roles, or helping to empower them in the workplace. When my husband and I decided to start a family, I assumed that I would immediately return to the workforce but becoming a mom changed me.

In the summer of 2013, my son Sullivan was born and I decided that I wanted to do something different with my time and career. I enjoyed being a mom so much and I had such an inspiring birth doula that I decided to try my hand at post partum support. There are so many hurdles that new parents in the city have to overcome besides the change that is a new addition to their family. It took me weeks (and months!) to figure out how to exist in the day to day at home with my dogs (yes, 2!) and baby.

And here is a little about my past life - which is important - because it's how I got to where I am today: I am a certified instructor in Edward DeBono’s Six Thinking Hats strategic training. Six Thinking Hats was created by Edward De Bono, and is an innovative tool used in group discussion to maximize on time, decision making and creativity. I am also a certified Six Sigma Green Belt, and is experienced in process improvement, organizational transformations and simplification; I leverage this expertise as a trainer.

My most recent position was at TIAA-CREF as the head of the IT Human Capital Program; in this role I managed the organization’s graduate recruiting program and the overarching Human Capital efforts focused on developing and retaining top talent for more than 1,500+ IT employees at TIAA-CREF. During my tenure at TIAA-CREF, I launched an employee awards and recognition program and operationalized an extended leadership team with more than 50 members across multiple locations and departments. Additionally, I was a lead contributor in the transformation to a more change adaptive and simplified organization.

I began my career at Credit Suisse as a product manager in fixed income/structured products, managing wholesale mortgage products. I then joined Countrywide Bank of America, where I managed northeast national accounts and a regional sales force focused on selling reverse mortgages and correspondent lending products. I then moved to a boutique consulting firm in Philadelphia and played a lead project management role for a technical integration of two different healthcare companies merging in Pennsylvania. I returned to Credit Suisse in 2009 and joined the technology department as program manager for the Human Capital programs.

I put my program management and people skills to work and began to build a career in the human capital space. I left TIAA CREF in 2013 after the birth of my first child.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English and a minor in French from Bucknell University
